Good News, Bad News

Good News: I got in touch with Keurig and they sent me a new coffee brewer and new coffee samples and coupons for free K-cups. I am very impressed with their service. I received my new brewer last week, before the first big snow storm. Just in time!

Bad News: The radon results came back. Anything over 4 piC/L is very bad. Our test said we had 28.8 piC/L.   I guess I know what I will be spending my tax refund on.

Good News: The snow plows finally got through our street last night (3 days after the storm finished). We still can’t see pavement, but at least the road is not as rutted. I can’t drive my car yet though because it is still too slick – just hard packed snow - and the crews didn’t apply salt or sand. I don’t think they can spare salt/sand on the residential streets since they are running out.

Bad News: The snow plows pushed a lot of heavy snow into my driveway that I will need to shovel out. There is also a blizzard forecast starting tonight but snow is supposed to start around noon. We had 22 inches during the last storm. We may have another 6 – 12 inches today and tonight.

Good News: I haven’t been into the office since last Wednesday.

Bad News: I can’t find my cell phone. I hope I didn’t lose it in the snow. I don’t remember using it since I left the office Wednesday night, so I am hoping I left it on my desk.

Good News: We have electricity.

Good News: I have enjoyed listening to audio books while I shovel.  I finished Game Change, the story of the 2008 election, written by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin.  Hard to tell how much of it was true, but very interesting.  Yesterday I started listening to The Girl Who Played With Fire, by Stieg Larsson.  This is the sequel to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.  I really enjoyed the first book and so far this second book seems just as good.

Bad News: I am sick of shoveling.

Good News: I have definitely decided that I will move to a warmer climate when I retire.

Bad News:  Spring has never felt so far away.
